Northern Saw-whet Owl Banding Training
Tuesday, September 24, 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. & Wednesday, September 25, 8:00 a.m. – 12: 00 p.m.
Are you a night owl? Or interested in owls?
A two-part workshop will be held at Beaver Creek Reserve to provide volunteers with the knowledge and training to participate in the Northern Saw-whet Owl banding program.
Participants will learn techniques to capture, hold, band, and take measurements of owls.
There are various opportunities for volunteers to find the role they are most comfortable participating in.
The owl banding project typical begins the first week of October and continues through the first week of November.
Banding occurs several nights a week from approximately 6 p.m. until approximately 1 a.m. Times vary throughout the season.
New volunteers must commit to a minimum of one night a week throughout the banding season.
Please bring a brown bag dinner for Tuesday night.
