Winter Solstice Sunset Snowshoe Hike
Celebrate the rebirth of the sun by snowshoeing at sunset on the shortest day of the year! The winter solstice is an important date marking the beginning of astronomical winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Celebrated across centuries and cultures, the solstice is a great time to honor rebirth and death on Earth. If there isn't enough snow to safely snowshoe, we will plan to just hike the trails instead - please wear appropriate footwear.
And after the hike, head on over to Hobbs Observatory from 5:10-6:30 PM as Chippewa Valley Astronomical Society volunteers offer telescope viewing of various planets if clouds permit.
This event is welcome to adults and kids 10 and up. Beginner snowshoers welcome!
Please dress accordingly and in layers. Event is subject to change based upon inclement weather.
