FRESHWATER MUSSELS 101
Have you heard of freshwater mussels?
Not many people know where they are or what their role is in the water.
In the 52 mussels species that occur in Wisconsin, 24 species are listed as threatened, endangered, or species concern.
This program will focus on learning about the Freshwater Mussels in our streams and rivers.
After an information presentation, registrants will be welcome to learn some hands on mussel identification by walking with us to Phoenix Park to engage in a mussel monitoring session
This program is run by the Beaver Creek Reserve's Citizen Science Center and is a program focused on enhancing knowledge of the distribution and abundance of these vital species
throughout Wisconsin.
Our program will be held at the Eau Claire Library at the Dabble Box space.
RCU Dabble Box Makerspace Room 039
Come join us to learn about these important species and how you can help them!
The program is free and recommended for children 15 and up.
Walk-ins are welcome.
